London Tech Week Welcomes Southampton Innovators
The annual celebration of technology and innovation, London Tech Week, is once again the destination for inventors of the future. This year, scientists and engineers from the University of Southampton Future Worlds accelerator are set to present their world-changing ideas to some of the UK’s most influential industry leaders and investors.
Future Worlds Accelerator: Breeding Ground for Innovative Ideas
Future Worlds, the University’s on-campus startup accelerator, is committed to nurturing the next generation of enterprising founders. This hub for technological advancement encourages both staff and students to develop transformative solutions that can significantly impact the world. Fresh from a fact-finding visit to the global epicentre of startups and technology, San Francisco and Silicon Valley, this year’s cohort is ready to reveal their ground-breaking projects at the prestigious Demo Day.
Future Worlds Director, Ben Clark, enthusiastically notes: “Demo Day is about celebrating, enabling and accelerating the brilliance of exceptional founders from the University of Southampton; they are the heroes because they can reach the extraordinary and make it happen.“
Emerging Tech to be Pitched: From Medicine to Sports
Among the innovative ideas to be showcased at London Tech Week are an enclosed four-wheeled electric bike aimed at safer commuting, a revolutionary blood test that can detect multiple cancers in a single test, an AI data management platform for chemical information, and an app designed to help elite athletes monitor their mental and physical health.
Xgenera founder, Andy Shapanis, will present a promising blood-based multi-cancer diagnostic test. He shares his anticipation: “I am excited to pitch at Demo Day, in front of world-leading industry experts and investors to share Xgenera’s vision for the future.”
In the sporting world, Laura Meehan, co-founder of Journally, will pitch an app for elite athletes. “We are thrilled to participate in Demo Day, as Future Worlds has been instrumental in shaping our vision and propelling our business forward,” she comments.
An Exciting Future Ahead for Tech Innovations
The University of Southampton’s Future Worlds accelerator continues its mission to inspire and foster transformative technology development. With their Demo Day set on Wednesday, 14 June, at the prestigious British Film Institute at London’s South Bank, they bring promise and excitement for what the future of technology holds.
