When traveling, it is always helpful to travel as light and compact as possible. One of the most common areas to try to reduce size and weight is with the contents of your Dopp kit. With soaps, shampoos, shaving needs, and personal items the weight can really add up fast.
I came across these FLATPAK Toiletry Bottles from a company called Matado. These intrigued me because they are not your average travel bottles that you can buy at your local grocery store in the travel section. Don’t get me wrong, those can work and serve a purpose however I always found them to be a waste of space as I used the product that I had put in them as the size and shape are forever static.

Matador’s Flatpak Toiletry Bottles are made of welded Cordura and lay flat. This is far superior to traditional cylindrical silicone bottles (that are always the same shape and size) because the Flatpak Bottles will conform to the amount of liquid you put into them. As your trip progresses and you use your shampoo the Flatpak Bottles will get thinner. Think of a tube of toothpaste.
The Flatpak Toiletry Bottles are TSA approved and designed to hold liquids, gels and pastes. I chose to order the 3 pack set they offer and filled mine with shampoo, shaving cream and toothpaste.
I have used them for a few days now and have to say that they are great. They take up far less space than traditional travel bottles and fit easily into my dopp kit. My only slight concern would maybe be the hinge on the flip up cap. It does not feel cheap however I do not know how long it will last with repeated use.
The Flatpak Toiletry Bottles are more expensive than traditional travel bottles. I do believe they are worth it though and highly recommend them. As time goes on and I continue to use them I will let you know if anything changes.
